The Cortona Sessions are coming to Akoesticum this summer

One of the world’s premiere educational programs dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary music, the Cortona Sessions is a destination for emerging composers and performers seeking to collaborate, learn, grow, and create. The Sessions provide participants with an inspiring and supportive environment in which new music is explored in all its possible forms. This is why we are so happy that they chose Akoesticum as their destination.

Over the course of ten days, they gather as a group to enjoy dozens of thrilling musical performances, engage in thought-provoking discussions about musical creativity and careers in the arts, and build the relationships that will shape our future musical lives. At the Cortona Sessions, they use their music-making to promote sharing, friendship, excitement, learning, and love. They strive for musical excellence in an atmosphere of community and compassion. 

They offer programs in composition, performance, and conducting, and also cater to pre-formed ensembles through their Contemporary Chamber Music Initiative.
