In 2020, Akoesticum and the Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument developed the music workshop in-corona time Windows of Opportunity. In September, October and November 2020, 25 musicians as soloists or in ensembles made a residency in Akoesticum 10 new performances.
The first edition of Windows of Opportunity was a great success. In the spring of 2022, we will therefore launch a sequel. Once again, a maximum of 25 young musicians will be given the opportunity to develop a new performance and perform it before an audience. The core of Windows remains the residency week in Akoesticum, but the artistic and business support is extended to a coaching trajectory of several months.
Windows of Opportunity offers young, professional musicians up to 30 years of age the opportunity to create a short performance. Not an 'ordinary' concert, but a performance that can be flexibly adapted to changing environments and situations. The new performances will be performed four times for an audience during the course.
Windows of Opportunity is supported by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Dioraphte, K.F.Heinfonds and Gemeente Utrecht, among others. Thanks to their contributions, we can invite up to 25 musicians (as soloists and in ensembles) for the trajectory from May to October 2022, so that 10 performances can be created. Windows of Opportunity is a collaboration between Akoesticum and the Windows of Opportunity Foundation. Idske Bakker is in charge of the artistic and project management.
